67 72 truck am Fm stereo radio
I had this radio built for me by radio rescue and was going to use it in my build but have since gone a different direction and added a wonderbar to my recent radio. This radio is 100% restored. Face is re-chromed and shiny. New lenses. It started as a true truck am Fm and I had added a 68 Buick amp to it. It now runs 2 speakers. Works and sounds beautiful. The radio comes as pictured. I am asking $725 shipped. This includes the radio and amp and dual dash speaker from electro tech. I will sell it with the 73 87 radio knobs as I need to keep my 67 ones for my truck. It is brand new as well. If you don't want the speaker I will sell for 700 shipped. Here is a YouTube video of it playing. https://youtu.be/z-MoUzh7NJQ. Just for added info there is no aux input added to the radio. Had a few ppl ask.

Question on this. Where would you mount the amp? Just curious. I already have a nice AM/FM radio, but this is a good idea. Also, does that amp just plug into the original radio? Thank you for any info you can provide.

It uses an 8 pin plug added to the radio. You can see it in the pictures. I mounted it on top of the a/c. I added a extra bump out in the glove box you can see. I don't have any pictures on my phone of it mounted.

I put these on the radio so you know what are speaker wires and where to hook them too. Double boxed with wood pieces on the side for safe travels.

Re: 67 72 truck am Fm stereo radio
OK, so I am finally getting around to installing this beast. Am I right that one speaker connects to the +/- connectors you marked on the radio and the other connects + to the amp and - to the chassis?
I presume this is still mono, so it shouldn't matter which speak connects to what, is that right? Thanks again for the quick shipment. I'm posting here instead of a PM for the benefit of anyone who is searching the archives. Tom PS: Is RadioRescue no longer a going concern? |

Re: 67 72 truck am Fm stereo radio
Yes you are correct and the positives go to the red dot side of the speaker. The radio grounds itself thru the dash mounting hardware and the amp does not need to be grounded as it has a ground wire thru the harness between the radio and itself. The blue wire on the amp is a positive so that speaker will ground to the body. It has to be that way or you can burn out the radio. It has a left and right fader but because they are both in the center dash spot 2"away from each other it really won't matter but if you are nuts about stuff like that you will have to check k which one is left and right as I don't remember. I believe radio rescue was bought out by another company but not sure who. I had this radio built in 2010.

Great, as I suspected. I will power it up on the bench and see what I get!

Re: 67 72 truck am Fm stereo radio
For those keeping score at home: The Left speaker is connected to the Radio and the right speaker is connected to the external amp. Now I just have to resolve my inoperative washer pump situation before installing this beast in the dash. One of the few times I'm really happy I don't have A/C!
