Relocate battery

.....have you relocated your battery to hide it from thieves and put a disconnect on it with a key so when you park it you can shut down all the power?? If so please show your set up so I can copy it LOL

Thanks Ten Ring..But.. I wanted to see if anyone has "Relocated" their battery and installed a Battery Disconnect with removal KEY..I'm familiar with the sites you offer for "Hidden" kill switches..but have been told that it would be better if the thief could not get to the battery. I've had the disconnect switch with removable key installed in my 67 Camaro and always felt secure when I had to leave my car for more than a few minutes.
By the way, I did a search but couldn't pull up anything on relocating the battery on my 67 GMC.

Don't relocate your battery.

Do these things:

1). Hood latch cable release. Brothers makes a version and one member has detailed pics on how to make your own.

2). Battery terminal disconnections, lots of places sell those.

3). Brake jack. Google it.

4). Hidden coil switch. Tons of threads on that.

5). Fuel line cut off valve. (Easy if tank still in cab).

6). Drive a manual. I imagine a lot of thieves would pass.

7). Drive a 3OTT. Back into your parking spot against a wall or tree. Put into reverse. Remove shift lever and take with you.

8). Chain vehicle to objects.

I did. I moved mine to under the bed just behind the passenger. I used a frame mounted battery box. I had the dealer installed saddle tanks, which were removed, so I was going to place the disconnect behind the little fuel filler door, but I ended up welding those up and not installing a disconnect. I still may and if I do it will be under the passenger seat where the cable runs anyway.

What year and model is your truck...What's the possibility of a few pictures TK ? Is it exposed to the rainy roads etc?

Never tried it on a 67-72, but what about AD style, under the passenger floor? Tray to the frame, use just enough of the floor pan for the opening. It was easy access on my 52. Gets lots of road splash, so I’d clean terms yearly.

I see also the Drop Down box for the first time – no floor mods?

Easy to chase battery cables to source, though. Gut an old battery and leave in stock spot to deceive?

HUNTZnsam...That's sounding purdy good about the "false" battery..What's AD? Anyway,
I'm gonna talk to my builder about the possibility of installing it behind the seat (have moved tank to bed) That drop box seems practical except getting all the road grime and water/snow ..Is that how you see it?

AD=Advance Design, 47-55 1st Chevy/GMC. I don't think the grime is an issue for a driver. They made millions like this. My own was a 4 season daily driver in the salt belt for 15 years, 105,000 miles. The battery was never a concern.

(A young fella with lots of energy and optimism wouldn't take "No", so he bought it to re-restore it.)

I also located mine just behind the passenger side of the cab as you can see in my posted pic here I went with an optima battery and bought a custom optima battery mount which I bolted to the frame. As low as my truck is the thief would have to go through a lot of pain and struggle to get it out. I will add a cutoff somewhere in the event I need to work on the truck and need the battery disconnected.
