Hey Joe, You'll find one, or two. As with the cowl you were looking for, this one got new paint. Researching 524 hugger orange with the paint sales rep, it was a one year only 1971 color, for our 67-72 trucks, after that it was red/orange, which is hard to tell the difference.

Hugger orange and red orange have the same 524 code. My 524 red orange 72 has the build sheet and it's listed as hugger orange on it. I believe they are the same.

i just got a tailgate thats orange but its got the woodgrain band and someone tried to repaint, its straight , but going to need repainted, surface rust only
im looking for a tailgate for mine, med green with lettering, maybe trade if someone has one, ill post pics later

I believe that's code 516 orange, it is lighter than hugger. Great price on that truck though. Thanks for the help though.

just an update after a good scrubbing, it does appear to be original paint, there is a large spot on the top panel where there was a sticker, there are two small dents one below the v on the bottom line and one almost straight up from the O in the chevrolet, Thanks
