2 3/4 to 2 inch rear brakes
Will the 1967 12 bolt 2" brakes drums, 2" shoes, and backing plates fit/work on a 1985 k10 GM 10 bolt rear axle that now has 2 3/4" brakes on it?

Re: 2 3/4 to 2 inch rear brakes
I am going to guess that it would bolt up fine with the exception of the brake drum. The axle flange is going to extend out further and you need a wide drum to cover that space.

Re: 2 3/4 to 2 inch rear brakes
THe brakes will interchange. The wider brakes take a specific backing plate so if you change the backing plate it will work. I have done it many times on square body trucks, on those they can have either 2” or 2 3/4” brakes. The brake cables will probably be different but those interchange too. So install the backing plates complete and use the old brake cables then it will all work.

Re: 2 3/4 to 2 inch rear brakes
Axle flange stick out from rear end housing is called “brake spacing” it is generally a set distance based on rear end type and manufacturer, when there are different width or diameter of brakes the backing plate is offset to make up the difference.
