1965 C10 ... Project Name: Just Learnin'

Let me preface these pictures by saying these bolts were all started by hand!! (I'm not a retard) I could turn them in with not issues, but about three threads in and they would lock solid. Then due to some poor hardware the bolt heads would strip out or the bolt would break..

All good enough sticking out to solve the problem!

SECOND ONE... NOW IM PISSED!


SO CUT EVERYTHING APART... CUT OFF ALL HIS HARDWARE AND WELD ON NEW GRADE 8 STUFF!!!!


and thankfully I had a good welding day.

This is how she ended up. Never got a pic with the hood on yet but everything is mounted and fits well, unfortunately I still can't use the fourth shock due to clearance issues with the heater so now I have fancy expensive hood hinges but still have to hold the hood up by hand hahhaa

oops forgot about the exhaust... well I'm running out of time tonight so basically I'll just say, bought a 2.5" universal kit from flow master and started hacking and cutting, kept everything up inside the frame rail and rocker, then dumped them straight out the fender... because why not.

ok so i looked at the truck the other day and the girlfriend was right this paint sucks!! its not ratty and sun beaten enough to have a really nice patina and its too beat up to polish and look nice. since a paint job is not anywhere in the near future when it comes to the budget I was trying to figure out what I should do.....

Ok, now if anyone is still paying attention I have a couple questions to throw out to the crowd and see if anyone can help me out here...

1. The Classic Sound (or whatever its called) radio I installed is doing some funky stuff. When the ignition is in the on position, the radio works great, all six speakers play and the radio has good reception. BUT when i actually turn the truck on, then the radio is very choppy... This has confused me greatly and I've checked all grounds and everything I have in my limited knowledge of car audio and can't figure it out.

2. Now the second one is an air ride question... I have noticed in order to level the truck out I'm running about 30psi in the back and 70 psi in the front..... If I run the same pressure front and rear the truck has a nasty rake! I may be a child of the 90s but this chevy isn't.. no rake wanted here. So I mounted the bags in the stock location of the rear springs but I still feel like it should be able to sit lower with the frame notch...


ANY ADVICE?!?!

My stereo does the same thing. I thought it was the unit, so I got a new one and it still did it. I hooked up an external power source and it still did it, the only thing thing that has helped is to unplug the antena. I have a HEI and I think it is something to do with leakage/bleed from the coil. Wierd.

For ur #1, I had the same issue when I went to a non_GM HEI. I ended up installing a noise suppressor. That seemed to take care of all my issues

The front will take more pressure due to the weight of the engine versus just an empty truck box. If you air out the back and it doesn't go low enough you're likely bottoming out your shocks.

Thanks I'll have to check that out when I'm back at the shop, I know it's not hitting the bump stops inside the c notches so I've still got room that way. Is there a way of relocating the shock mounts?

Pay attention to drive shaft clearance and pinion angle.

You can use these shock relocate brackets.
