Hey guys, does anyone have a link to a detailed thread how to shorten a lwb frame to short box. I have read one where its detailed on where and how to shorten it with the z cut or step method. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Re: crew cab frame shortening
Thanks for the info, I was really looking for an old thread that showed how you map out the z cuts, but after more searching today, I found it.
Just looked at your 72 Crew build, that is looking good. I plan on starting on one after the first of the year. Would you be willing to give some pointers then? Thanks again |

Re: crew cab frame shortening
I had originally planned on the "Z" cut for mine, but after a bunch of research I went with the 45 degree cut. I read a couple places that cracks eventually formed coming off of the splice... even with rounded corners. There are so many guys out there that have done straight cuts with no issues, I am quite confident in my 45 degree transition lasting forever. I covered it pretty well in my build... link in sig.
