I hope everyone on this thread understood already that these pre-64 tachs require a transmitter box to operate - the Sun EB9A for V8 and Eb7A for 6 cyl. Without a transmitter box that works, these tachs are worthless. 64-66 tachs are transistorized and reproduced, and work with a simple harness to the coil. This 63 tach will require a working transmitter box, and the transmitter boxes require a 1.3 Volt battery they don't make anymore so you pretty much have to send the box to a specialist and have the internal board replaced to eliminate the battery or make it work with a double A first - about 400 bucks depending on who you send it to. Everyone goes gaga over these tachs only to find all this out the hard way so hope this helps someone not make a bad decision
