Re: anyway to determine approximate build date?

Yes. Look at date stamp on the parking brake mechanism in the cab. Should be close. Mine has 1 25 72 and is a Feb 72 built Blazer sold the first week in March 72: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...&postcount=180

Original dash pads, carpet, seat foam, and drive train components all have dates that closely approximate the actual build and taken together can narrow down the month.

Re: anyway to determine approximate build date?

Isn't the month and year typed on the vin sticker on the drivers door?

Yes but often these are missing or, as in the case of my blue blazer, painted over. I wasn't successful in removing the paint from mine while preserving the decal despite trying several solvents.

Blazer seats are usually date stamped on the back in the foam.

OP could start a post asking for serial numbers and date of manufacture, prob be helpful for others too.

A data base of build sequence #s would be great. I'm still trying to figure out when Flint switched from double to single wall Blazer tops by sequence.

Here's the date code on my blazer bucket foam. I don't recall seeing the same on pickup buckets.

Re: anyway to determine approximate build date?

in corvette land equipment usually predates the assembly of the vehicle by 1-3 months.

some of the equipment on my 68k20 dates from january to february and it was sold on 23rd of april.

I think a data base would be an excellent refference

Re: anyway to determine approximate build date?

I sent my serial number to GM Canada and they sent me the date , where it was built, the options it had . Also got info and specs on all the models they made in 69. Very interesting, I think it cost me About $75

Re: anyway to determine approximate build date?

Pretty sure the door tag has that date. May depend on year.

Build sheet does as well. I think that's it in the upper LH corner (05/19/1971).

For what it's worth, I was edgeucated today my intake manifold and block were built a month before the truck was built. Just a guide and indicates flow of inventory. Mike16's post elaborates.

And looks like my dash pad and intake were built a month before it rolled off the floor:

Re: anyway to determine approximate build date?

I created this thread http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=655702 just for keeping track of real labels with the hope we could get a big bunch and make it easier for folks to determine when their truck was built.
Feel free to add yours Trey!

My understanding from other posts here over the years is that this sort of information is only available for pickups either sold and/or produced in Canada and the records for those made/sold in the US are not available.
