painting drop spindles?

I bought a set of McGauphy drop spindles and they have been sitting for a while... I was wondering if I can shoot a fresh coat of paint over them..... how should I go about doing it? Just a light scuffing then spray the paint or is there some process I should follow for better results? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: painting drop spindles?

Just like painting anything, it depends on the surface and surface condition. This has nothing to do with the maker of the part.
If it's a casting, a scuff won't do.
