Brake booster on 57
Can anyone tell me what a good brake booster kit is for the stock location of master cylinder on frame? My issue is, I have a 4 speed Saginaw mounted to a 350 in my truck. I知 new to all this, and not skilled in a lot of fab work. All the kits I see are for an auto trans. I知 going with the drums on all 4.

Re: Brake booster on 57
hydro boost would work well if you are short on room. lots of talk on here about it if you do a search. it is fairly straight forward once you figure out what it is you need to do. it takes up waaay less room and the brakes are crisp just like stock vehicle the unit came fro. problem with the smaller boosters is that they need to be dual diaphragm to get the same boost effect, so smaller around but longer. check ogre's build, he used hydroboost from a mustang I think. some home done fabbing required for mounting but better outcome in my opinion. some guys have simply drilled through the stock master cyl and used that bracketry set up so the new, longer, push rod goes right through the stock master to the hydroboost mounted behind that.
whatever vehicle you use as a donor, try to get the hoses etc as well, easier to have some new hoses built if you come to the hose shop with the opriginal fittings for match up. you may also need a power steering pump with the extra return hose connection unless you T into the single return line somewhere. check kim57 post 2 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=498494 dwcsr posted here http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=202888 ogre's booster but pics are an issue, he does mention a photosuckit fix for the pics or you could pm him with your email and he could maybe send you something http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=498494 73-87 thread info here, generic stuff http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=539517 performance on line here https://www.performanceonline.com/hy...9-chevy-truck/ that should get you started |

Re: Brake booster on 57
as mentioned i made my own bracket that uses the stock swing arm and pedal, but i wouldn't go this route again
easy peasy solution is to gut the stock master cylinder and cut off the back of the mc mount the hydroboost behind the the stock location and run the push rod thru the old mc how far behind is up to you close or 2 feet back it doesn't matter this method removes most of the locating issues that i had it also tremendously eliminates most of the fabrication required

Master Power Brakes make a nice setup that bolts into the stock location using the stock pedal and it want interfere with your clutch set pedal.

Summit Racing sells a kit from SSBC, and if you are as inexperienced in this matter, I'd suggest calling Summit Racing's help line, 1-800/230-3030. they're great to talk to and very helpful
