Re: Getting ready for winter....
That's sharp!!! I know all about putting things away for the winter. My '69 Olds and '67 GMC are but tucked away - here in upstate NY. Although the weather has been clear so far. Didn't know guys in Texas had to do the same.

That is a sharp looking ride alright! Your truck and mine are just about polar opposites -- with winter coming on, my K20 is waking up and hoping for snow!

I would love to have a stepside with those tool box sides like that......I carry soooo many tools in my daily driver, many just to help other drivers I come across.

Re: Getting ready for winter....
I wouldn't know what to do if I had to park them for the winter!
I drove the 71 last 2 days to work. I drove the 56 today. It's been in the 60's all week.

Re: Getting ready for winter....
Great looking truck!! What do you mean put them up for the winter? I have driven my old truck for 39 years year round. Of course it is a little crusty around the rockers and cab corners but I have all the pieces to fix it. Maby I need to pull it inside and start on the repairs? I really hate to start on it because then I couldnt just jump in it and go. Something to think about though.HMMMMMMMMM????

Re: Getting ready for winter....
I have to admit that I drive the old truck as often as my schedule might allow, throughout the winter. (the Olds certainly does not get driven in bad weather). When I bought the GMC, and it was delivered by BigRigPardo, there snow on the roads and we drove it. The thing that really bugs me is the salt and other chemicals that seem to rust and corrode everything!!!
hell, I dont even take our '03 Tahoe in the fresh snow salt unless its absolutely necessary. In my grumpy opinion..Winter is just plain No Good. haha |

Re: Getting ready for winter....
This picture is of a '71 in the early '80s and Maryland winters aren't as bad as many other states
I fixed that one and ran it year round and a few others. It worked me hard keeping up with them. They would get washed down almost daily...every chance I got. Wash them out all up and underneath. But they still would get rust everywhere. I finally decided by the '90s to run other trucks in the winter to make life easier and the trucks had become something precious by then

Re: Getting ready for winter....
Put them up for winter in Texas? I'll admit, I won't get my truck out in the snow or bad weather, but even in east TN, winters are mild, at best< and I still get mine out every chance I get.
