After 20 years, I finally found my wrench!
A little backstory: My 70 C-10 has been in our family its entire life. When I was 16, I was tasked with swapping out the rear 1/2 ton coils for 3/4 (we had just purchased a travel trailer).
Fast forward to today, 20 years later. I'm getting ready to chop the frame, taking the rear apart when I came across this old relic lingering in the frame rail: Looks like 16 year old me had no appreciation for tools, let alone good ones. Glad I didn't become a surgeon.

That has been the reason for my loss of tools , the customer seems to always get a prize.

Re: After 20 years, I finally found my wrench!
I am doing some retaining walls behind the house here. Today I was digging footers and came across a pair of tree pruners that I hadnt seen since our bad mudslide last January. They still work. Somewhat related story, but not really :-). Great find!

Re: After 20 years, I finally found my wrench!
Take good pics, drop into a tub of Evaporust, time the stay, take more pics.
Send pics to Evaporust and to SnapOn, plus over to Chevrolet with a printout of the story. That's an excellent testimonial. Some years ago a guy found out some dredging had taken place to a river he used to fish on. He had a look for a Ruger .22 pistol he had lost off a boat decades before. HE FOUND IT. It was badly rusted but after being cleaned up, STILL WORKED. He contacted Ruger, they traded him a new pistol for his lost one (it is still in production), and put the original on display as a symbol of how well-made their guns are, able to take decades on a river bottom. |
