Finally found my truck.

I've been looking for one for a while now and finally came across this one. Not crazy about the red wheels but it's a start. I'm pretty excited about it. 1965 It's got a hopped up 6 in it with a 4 barrel and split header to dual exhaust. Sounds pretty sweet. I'll run it around like this for a bit but it will end up with an LS1 I've got one sitting in the shop. It has a 3 on the tree. Anyone know what's involved to swap that to a super t 10? I have one of those laying around too. A 4 speed on the floor would be fun. Anyway here's a shot of it and I'm sure I'll be around asking more questions.

Re: Finally found my truck.

Check your research but the three speed should be the same length as the ST-10. Your speedo cable & the cross member should good. There could be a difference in the type of yoke at the tail shaft.

Cut a hole for your shifter and buy a boot & you'll be have fun with a four on the floor.

Re: Finally found my truck.

Looks like a nice truck to work with. That T10 will bolt up and hang off of the back of the bellhousing just like the 3 speed does. If your truck still has a bench seat, you will need a shifter stick for a '55-'57 Chevy that has a dogleg in it.

Re: Finally found my truck.

Thanks for the info on the trans swap. I'll be doing that soon. Today was my 1 day with a tag on it and able to drive it around. Damn the fuel smell in the cab is unbearable. I don't see any leaks either. Either way I ordered up a tank and am going to relocate it to the rear of the truck and see how that goes. Thanks for the kind words.

Re: Finally found my truck.

Fuel smell in the cab is common, best cure is a new sending unit gasket and tank filler neck tube. Never had any fumes in my 66 again, but I also converted to a frame tank.

I've ordered up some stuff to covert it should be here in a couple of days. It's so bad you can't be in the truck with the windows up. My old 66 wasn't this bad. At least I don't remember it being bad but that was a lot of years ago.

The rubber that connects the tank with the outer filler neck is typically the culprit.

Re: Finally found my truck.

Thanks everyone. I'm happy with it so far. I had to pull the whole fuel system and tear the carb down for all the trash in them but the new under bad tank will solve that issue.

Not sure yet. I have always wanted to put Convo Pro's on a car so I might go with those. Still a way off of putting new wheels on it. The clown wheels will have to do for a bit. I might repaint them though.

I stripped the whole fuel system out of the truck. Ran a new hard line to the rear of the truck. My new under bed tank should be here Wednesday. I'm sure the tank was the cause. Before I removed it it flat hurt to get in the truck. The fumes were terrible. Just going out to the shop now is so much better. I've got the tank sitting on the driveway. I'm going to throw a few gallons and see if it's seeping from the bottom seam or something. I don't know.
