Anyone know of a solid green paint code that looks like this?
Ive been looking to choose a color that I can paint myself onto a 66 that I am restoring. Ive seen pics of this green metallic but Ill need to find a solid equivalent since I am painting this myself and have to paint panel for panel vs all at once.
I took these pics into the PPG store and they gave me 2 colors to try but not the right color though,so Im about to go back and see if they can help match it better. Any help is appreciated. |

Here's the 66 colors. Maybe ask for Light Green instead of the metallic Turquoise?

By "solid color", do you mean an opaque, non-metallic paint? The pics you show are similar to two 1966 Chevrolet colors. Willow green, and Corvette Mosport green. Interestingly, when I googled willow green for an image, a 1971 Jaguar color with the same name came up, and it's close to what you are looking for, but non- metallic.

Thanks guys, it is definitely a non metallic paint Im after. That 503 light green comes off pretty dark. The test I did looked a bit dark and too aqua blueish. 503 light green is the last test strip on the right of the panel Im testing on, the one to the left of it is sea moss which still isnt right. Thanks for the mosport and willow green tips, Ill start with checking those!

Actually, just called PPG and gave them the WillowGreen 43391 and the Mosport Green 43535 and they are unfortunately for me metallic only, no solid. So I'm off to look through the books of swatches again. Almost all of the books are metallic only that Ive seen.

It might be Laurel Green but from the paint codes Im seeing on that color its a metallic. Im trying to find a solid thats close since metallics are tricky for newbie painters like myself.

Re: Anyone know of a solid green paint code that looks like this?
I just had trouble finding a non metallic paint for my truck too. The auto paint supplier recommended I go to Home Depot or Lowes and find a sample I liked, then they could match it. So I got a few of the $5 paint samples from Home Depot then painted them on poster board to see which I liked. Once I decided on a color I went back and had them match it. Much cheaper than buying several pints auto paint for samples.

Funny you mention that, I spent yesterday going to Sherwin Williams, Lowes and Home Depot and snagging all the paint chips that are close to the pics on my iPad that I took along. It also dawned on me that I had an old printers pantone swatch book and found a color that is pretty close to the more neutral and less aqua marine color green Im after. I think I will try a few $5 samples though instead of 2oz at $12 at PPG, thanks for the tip.

I might be taking a simplistic approach to this but since you know the color you want but without the metallic, couldn't you go to your favorite automotive paint shop and have them mix up the color you like but without the metallic particles added? I have never worked in a paint shop but I thought the metallic part of the formula could just be left out.
