Display, Diorama, Storage, Care
I have questions on cleaning and storing, but instead of starting a thread just for that, how about a thread for all this misc. stuff concerning our collections?
My 'display' is a total random for lack of better clutter of things hanging and stacked all over the place collecting more dust than I care to have to keep up with. Also, this is the common room at the top of the stairs and I want to get all this stuff out of there and into my bedroom... eventually. I plan to start renovating both these rooms, so I want to clean it all up, heavy dust, and stash in boxes in a way to keep the best condition. Any suggestions, let me hear them. I guess the issue is not messing up the clear plastic.

Re: Display, Diorama, Storage, Care
My biggest question is what is the best way to clean dust off the bubble pack? I guess a damp cloth. But what is safe to use to leave clear, no film, w/o damage? I think it's too heavy to just "dust". Is Pledge (etc) safe? I'm ready to take them all off the wall and do something different...as in enclosed.

Re: Display, Diorama, Storage, Care
Try one of those Swiffer duster things they should do the job for you. They will get the bulk of the dust off and you can detail edges with a damp Q-Tip.

Re: Display, Diorama, Storage, Care
Thanks Greg. Pretty much what I did except didn't do a full detail, more could be done. But they are stashed away nicely now.
I'll be painting this room some time after the holidays and I'll see about making cases for some things to coe back out.

Re: Display, Diorama, Storage, Care
I keep mine in the basement in a windowless (temp) cool room in their original boxes. I use dustproof cases, I bought from now defunct Danbury and Franklin Mints, when I display in my used bedroom den where my computer is. I can display 30/35 depending what scale i'm using and when I sit in at my computer the models in the room on display are my art form just like someone that has paintings on their walls. I've collected enough over the years so I'm lucky in the fact I can them out and display different ones after a while.

Re: Display, Diorama, Storage, Care
I still want to find out what the best thing to use to wash with. Maybe just duster spray, but it needs some help getting out of nooks and crannies. Alcohol not good for windows or plating. I have all the Danbury and Franklin Mint GM Trucks but sold everything else...except my Harley and Indian stuff. I had that American Pickups series, the Vette series, and a bunch of Chevy cars and any GTOs that came out. They made some great stuff.
