Big Dilemma VIN # CS181F

The guy i bought it from told me today it was originally a 2wd now i am thinking possibly a 71 model the front has 6 lug with the transfer case installed . the rear has the original 5 lug ! is there Anyone that can decode this ? there is confusion amongst decoding site blogs that had already been posted ! any help would be greatly appreciated added a pic of Door tag with Vin .. dont see any site with production numbers for the 8 maybe its a GMC .. it does have coil springs in rear still so 2wd is a solid guess and the frame stamp under hood matches the vin Help !

I have a 72 4X4 Blazer, I compared the data plates and I would say yours is a 71 2X4 Six Cylinder Blazer made in Flint. Your weights are lower than mine so I would say the data plate represents a 2x4. Did Someone try to convert it to 4x4? If you had the info off the SPID on the glove box door that would help more.

Make sure the frame is straight. That should be an interesting build. Also I see you have another thread with those pictures, you can check to see if it is a 71 or 69 by checking for model differences. 69 has a rod linkage gas pedal which is a huge pedal, 71 has a cable system which is a small pedal. That Blazer looks like it has been setting for a while so I would say it has not been converted to a cable system. Also front clip says 71, but that could have been changed.

Yes its been sitting for about 10 years . frame is straight as an arrow. will check all you said out tomorrow and see what the difference is . he told me he thought it was a 69 when i bought it but for that price i didnt care what year it was , and yes the front clip has been changed on it the color is off from the body . its sitting in my neighbors yard we will pull it out tomorrow and get it over here then i can dig into it more and get some better pics before i start tearing it down.. everything is there that was the biggest thing. has 3 on a tree will probably build a new V8 for it and stick the original inline 6 and trans in the back of the shop. shouldnt be too much work . cant be no worse than the last 70SS Chevelle i did a frame off on ... worst one yet lol

No Problem,

Good luck with the build. You can look at my build on Sloppy Jo to see what you are about to get into.
