I have never been able to get the correct one for a 72 aftermarket. They have a different bend due to the fuel pump having a return line added in.

BASTARDS.............. 71 & prior don't have a return line I know of. I wonder the impact? If the outlet fitting is positioned differently for a return line, figure that means it works on a pump without a return line?

OT: Contrary to popular belief, and clarifications welcome, the 1971 cab tanks and pumps did not have a return line. There was one fuel line to the pump, and one vent line to the vapor can. I believe that applies to some 70s as well, Ca. mandate or somethin'. And no, a return line has nothing to do with A/C. If it does, then GM didn't realize it until 72, for why I couldn't tell you.

The 71 takes a different gas cap as well. Can't remember, but I think the 1970 EEC used the same.

Not to hijack the OP, but if anyone has or makes one that's nice and suits a 71, then I'm interested. The 71 has just one line that connects between the tank and pump (no return line), and please, the correct threads between the pump and Rochester carb on a 402, TH400. I have A/C if it matters, but I bet it doesn't. Best of luck OP, my 72 has some Edelbrock BS, but at least it's hard line.

Have you tried Inline Tube? 72 I'm hearing is different than a 71 because of return line and bend @ fuel pump...I'm betting it would be the same as a 73-75 with a 454 (Pre EGR Low Rise Manifold)?

Good luck...Alan
