CST door panels - non woodgrain trim

Checking to see what the correct door panels would be for a 71 CST Blazer that did not have the woodgrain trim package.

I have mis-matched inner door panels on my project - checking to see which pair I need to complete.

Driver is standard steel stamped door. Passenger is white vinyl over steel stamped door. Note no woodgrain trim in upper panel.

Not 100%, but I would think a 71 CST would have the woodgrain on top of the vinyl door panels.

Re: CST door panels - non woodgrain trim

Thanks - the blazer had the lower trim with black highlights - not the woodgrain trim so I wondered what options the door panels had. I only see the woodgrain panels available aftermarket.

Wondering if we have many non-woodgrain CSTs that are not 72 models to see what panels were on the inner doors.

Re: CST door panels - non woodgrain trim

A-ha! Did you have the trim package, but w/o woodgrain by chance?

Might have to find somebody parting a truck to get a set of these door panels then...

Re: CST door panels - non woodgrain trim

I'm not sure. Would that be on the glove box label?
I'd trade mine for some diamond plate ones (home-made is ok). Brown in color, but not cracked.

Re: CST door panels - non woodgrain trim

a true CST Blazer would have woodgrain on the top of the door panels and also woodgrain trim on the outside of the truck. The white door panel in your pic looks like an older panel.

I would have to disagree with a 71 CST having wood grain door panels.

Hmmm, I stand corrected. I have never seen anything like that before, but if you think about it, it kind of makes sense. The rear panels dont have wood on them and they would be almost a perfect match for the front ones without the wood.

A CST would have wood trim on the body though, I'm sure of that. It was part of the CST package.

Re: CST door panels - non woodgrain trim

My 71 2wd blazer does not have the wood trim on the top of the door panels.

It does have lower woodgrain trim and rear tailgate trim with woodgrain.
It's also a CST.

Re: CST door panels - non woodgrain trim

I love threads like this where there is no real rhyme or reason as to how these old vehicles were built, and the info needs to be "found". So many of you are much smarter than me about these old trucks and yet it seems there is still something to be learned (kind of like some of the info I read in the Highlander section). I just think it is cool how you guys come together and try to find out what happened and why

I think you hit the crux....there was probably not much rhyme or reason WHEN they were built....

in my mind's eye.....I can see those assembly line workers, back in the day.....assembling a truck or car or Blazer....."Hey Joe..you think these door panels look good on here ? "Yea Bill...they look great..stick them on there...we'll put this other set on the next one...it's Friday...who cares?"

Are your door panels original or aftermarket?
Your post says it's a 70 blazer, but the scroll pattern on the seats are 71-72.

I just recently re-upholstered the seats...I liked the 71-72 pattern better than the 69-70.....good catch.....no one ever notices it.....the panels are aftermarket

So different from today where so much is automated or done by robots. Part of the "cool factor" of old rigs in my eye, and I can see just that conversation taking place!
