I'm in Lincoln now but plan to move to Grand Island in a few months. Dan69 step, how about Fremont - then you wouldn't have to drive to get to their swap meet.

Cook, just 11 miles north of the new state housing unit in Tecumseh. Dan69, what type of move do you want to make? Job-related, or what? Not to be nosy, but may be able to answer a question or two.

I'm from Elkhorn, just west of Omaha. I've been in Austin, Texas for the last eight years, but still get home a few times a year. I lived in Lincoln for 4 years as well, while I was going to school. For me, I like a rural area within 20 or 30 miles of Omaha. You can still get a small town atmosphere and yet you are close enough to a bigger city for all that it offers too.

I am not from Nebraska, but my truck is! It has a sticker on the cowl from "DUTEAU'S- Lincoln's Chevy Center" and then a sticker below that "Woody Comb's F#%d, Seward Neb." I bought my truck in Manhattan KS. Now it is in Rhode Island.

I used to haul grain for Parris Trucking out of Grand Island,NE, and went to tech school in Milford, I think I've been to every town in Nebraska that has an elevator. It's nice to know there are some members on here that are close to home. I got my CDL in Fullerton. Used to live in Ravenna.

My 68 C-20 and I are in Auburn, 1 hour south of Omaha. The truck is originally from Huxley, Iowa, though. Old Chevy's are pretty popular here.

Truckboy and johnnyp,
I just drove to Blair yesterday for a better look around.Have been through many times but never really checked it out. I build log sided cabins, so I can locate about anywhere, my wife is an RN. I was raised here on the farm, have always had privacy, and an acreage, but would like a slightly larger community with a few more opportunities. We don't even have a hospital here anymore. My wife would have more selection in her career, too. The Blair area gives me the feel of a "small town" but has more to offer than Fullerton, and definitely looks like it is progressive. Don't really want to be in town, an acreage of 3-4 would be ideal.Saw some property that had a large house,9 acres, and 4+ garage shop, about 4 miles from town. But at $400,000, just a LITTLE out of my price range.(more like a whole lot)Since I am a builder, would like to find a dump, doze it in and build what I want. But I am considering other towns and areas ,too, even out of state.

nosurf, don't know about Woody Comb's but Duteau's is still alive and kicking here in Lincoln. In fact, they just built a new dealership on the south side of town. Small world.

I live in Cook. Small town, but Syracuse is 11 miles north and Lincoln and Omaha are within an hour of me. It is nice to live in a small town and still be within reach of "civilization". Many people live here and work in either of the cities. My in-laws just moved here from Roswell, NM. and my mother-in-law got a job at the hospital in Syracuse (lab tech). Construction is doing pretty well in the area also.
