Might take a drive and look at this.. seems worth it!
Hi all, curious on what you guys think about this truck. It’s a 1970 c30. 133” wheelbase. I know longhorn beds fit on these. If an 8 ft bed was placed on the frame could the axle just be brought forward? Just leaf spring rivets and driveshaft mods correct? It looks like everything has been done. Just missing a few things.
Here it is : https://allentown.craigslist.org/cto...429450123.html |

Seen it posted for quite a while. Has had a bunch of body work done to it. And has pretty big gears in the back I think 5.13 or bigger being a tow truck. I have toyed with buying it but done have any garage space to keep a primed project out of the weather. And as for a bed no moving the axle forward may work in theory. But I don't think k the bed will sit right on the frame at that point and you would have to move all the bed mounts but a longhorn bed should drop right on.

Did you look at the truck in person?

No I didn't make the drive to go see it I am 2 hours away. If it was a 71 and had disc brakes I would buy it and do a rear swap but being drum front sucks. I mean they work but if you are going to put a bed on and go all the way it's just another thing that needs to be swapped.

Hm, makes sense. I spoke to her a couple days ago.. she said she “wants to get rid of it” so that might be an opportunity to scoop it up real cheap.

That thing would be cool with a longhorn bed and dually rear fenders.

The wheels and tires will actually tuck under the longhorn bed. It’s a cab and chassis rear end. Which is skinnier thAn day 73-87 regular dually rear end.

I forgot about the later truck bed dually axles being wider.

Looks like a good starting point on a cool truck I wouldn't let a disc swap deter you much I'm pretty sure square body stuff will swap rite onto it and might as well do the hydro boost while your at it.
Those items are plentiful in yards around here. It's been on cl for a little while now I've eyeballed it myself but I don't need yet another project. There was a longhorn truck on cl closer too phil. But I haven't seen it for a while that one would have been a good donor.
