Re: Great Grandads '53 3100
Took a couple days off work and spent a long weekend on the truck. Got my fuel lines run, wiring harness finished up, new battery box mounted and most important of all. . .

Re: Great Grandads '53 3100
Ha! Well "20BentValves" is my username for Photobucket. It came from back in my VW days when I blew up my 20 valve turbo motor. That's just part of the URL i guess. From what I can tell the 5.3 is nice and healthy, but then again its so dang loud I cant hear anything. |

Re: Great Grandads '53 3100
First update in several months. That being said I've still been working on the truck quite a bit. I've been keeping my instagram page current so feel free to request to follow me if you'd like to follow along. My username is stesone11
This is fairly abbreviated so forgive me. After I got the engine running, I got the the ECM and Throttle control box mounted under the dash. Managed to get it done reusing some parts from the fuel tank straps. From there i moved on to mocking up the bed. And discovered I would indeed need to add some tubs. Built the tubs from a trailer fender. It was a single fender I split in half and narrowed a bit and filled in with sheet metal. and got them welded into the bed From there I moved on to building the frame for the bed floor. The floor will tilt up to access the fuel tank and allow you to see into the chassis. One of my main objectives was to keep the floor near the stock height and I was able to come within 2 inches of that. From there I moved on to filling the stake pockets, plug welding all the holes in the bed and filling the ends of the bed rails That wrapped up the fab work on the bed so from there I moved onto repairing some rust on the front fenders. First the drivers side Then the passengers side. For this one I was able to drill out the spot welds and remove the inner piece Today I spent the better part of 9 hours stripping sheet metal hoping to have some primer on them here soon. |

Curious to know about your front wheel and tire size? I have 18" Riddlers with 4.5" backspacing for the front. I haven't checked to see what tire size I need, but yours look pretty darn close.
