You don’t need to take the tire off - just look at the rim for a size stamping. Externally. I normally see them on the center-facing external wheel rim.

Since you confirmed you have 16.5 tires, it’s important to confirm your rim now. I’ve never seen 16.5 5 Lug wheels. Has anyone else? i may just not be aware. But your truck came with 16 inch 5 Lug rims. Need to confirm anyway. It has happened before - someone puts a 16.5 Tire on a 16 rim - a big safety no no.

Very cool truck. Love that 505 dark green and swing out bumper.

Sorry just saw this. The color code for this red is 81. Name: Bright Red.

If I remember correctly from late 70's or late 80's but used on multiple vehicles. The good part is you can still buy spray touch up in this code. I've purchased these from Napa and Advance Auto.

I used these spray cans to paint my replacement steering column and touch up some things on the truck. Match is almost perfect.

This is a can of original touch up with the complete paint code from GM. Not the touch up from Napa. The WA 8774 is important to get the correct paint.

Re: New Member, New Truck

That is a GREAT truck, nice find! I'd freshen the interior and fix anything mechanical and roll with it. Keep the bumper!

Re: New Member, New Truck

More pics;

The good, the truck has one of the nicest grills I have seen, it looks almost new. The side moldings are also very clean, only the two lower moldings behind the rear tires and the tailgate band need to be replaced. The body I think has one dent in it that I can find.

The Bad;

The rust I found that needs to be fixed. Not to bad for a 46 year old truck, cab corners look good. I thought it was an original paint job, it's not.. I think just the front has been repainted. Oh well, makes me feel better when I weld up the holes in the doors from the mirrors. PO put sheet metal screws in the upper molding on the drivers side bed....

A couple tips I have found on the sight that I found super helpful; my hood didn't pop up, found a tip to adjust the back of the hood hinges down and man that worked like a charm.
Working on getting smaller mirrors to work found a tip to get more adjustment from the RH one, will be trying this soon, not a fan of the big camper mirrors

PO put a Holley Economaster carb on, I guess I'll be saving up for some kind of fuel injection. OP also put a aluminum 2 core radiator, looks nice, hope it can keep up.

Painted the valve covers and I'm installing the HEI this weekend. Valve covers came out nicer than I expected.
