Wood-gas '69 step side
I thought about trying this with a tractor once, but the energy required to make the small pieces of wood seems like it would cancel out the savings...
https://www.motherearthnews.com/gree...k-zmaz81mjzraw I don't often frequent Mother Earth News but I was looking through some images and it caught my eye.

That would be practical and handy to have after the holocaust.

Re: Wood-gas '69 step side
This was a very common conversion in Europe in WWII and after as there was no gas.n anything that will burn can be used. Manure was a popular fuel as it was cheap, found everywhere and will prep itself just laying out in the field. But don't expect much in the way of horsepower. There is an old book out there on the subject that is pretty interesting.

I could be wrong but I think steam powered vehicles were tried for a while.
