Short bed lowering blocks

Is this a common way to lower a a truck? I have never lowered a truck so I'm curious if this the right way or just an inexpensive way to get it lowered?

It's pretty common. And I personally don't have a problem using them. Although yours look like 3" blocks. I havnt seen those. Most use 1" or 2" blocks. I made 2 1/2" blocks for mine. All the newer trucks for years are using blocks to lift there 4 wheel drives. All 6" supension lift kits come with 4-5" raising blocks for the rear. Those I don't care for. Just seems to screw up the ride.

The problem with blocks that big is if you are running 15 inch wheels and you get a flat you will probably scrape chassis parts instead of just running on a rim. I have two inch blocks and its borderline on mine.

The chassis being so low is what caught my eye. I just bought this truck and I'm try to figure out exactly what I have. What would have been done to the front to lower it that much? Would it just be shorter springs in the front?
