Lowering for stock 15s
Hey all,
I want to lower my 71 stepside and want to continue to use my stock 15" wheels. Have read lots of things on here and it appears that some grinding will be required. The biggest question is what parts do i go with. Cpp spindles? Lmc spindles, etc. Would like to use drop spindles and lowering springs in the front and lowering springs in the rear with or without a notch. 4/5 is what I'm going for. Classic parts has kits also. Thinking of piecing parts from cpp classic parts summit and lmc. Looking for suggestions. |

Re: Lowering for stock 15s
I'll only recommend drop components from www.earlyclassic.com

Re: Lowering for stock 15s
Do you really mean the stock wheels, or rally rims?
ECE and CPP both have economically priced lowering kits that give a good stance. Ride Tech starts to get more pricey and is more performance oriented. I'm using ECEs stuff. total of 4.5" in front via 2.5" spindle, 2" springs. Rear is 6.5" using 6" spring and 1/2" lowering block. No c notch. Never had an issue in 10,000 miles. I did replace the ECE shocks with CPP nitrogen shocks and it rides a little better.

Best 1/4 mile time: TBD. |

Re: Lowering for stock 15s
Im using Mcgaugheys 3.5"/5" kit haven't notched the rear yet ( yea i know you said no notch). 2.5" spindle 1" coil, 5" rear coil shock relocates and pan hard bar. I have 235/75 on the front and rear and its about to be changed. I had to cut off the bump stops up front also. the kit is supposed to be 3.5" up front but its gotta be closer to 5" the tire is maybe an inch away from the fender well

Re: Lowering for stock 15s
Thanks for the tips and pics guys. I'll get to doing some work soon and post the pics of the progress up. I'm not using a 15" rally but a 15" Steelie to take a hubcap.
