i downloaded this pic of the rearend under construction
you can see the reinforcing over the c-notch, you need to do this due to half the weight being on the rear shackle
without the reinforcing the frame would fold over at the c-notch
a 5'' c-notch would be better than 3'' but would require raising the bed wood
