Want to drop rear about 1 inch more and better ride
What's up, got a 1970 gmc c15 shortbed.
Front drop with 2.5 spindles and og coils cut 1 turn Rear major ? It has 3 leafs only. A lot of bed roll shocks prolly gone From floor to gender lip 28 inches front 31 inches rear Got more wheel gap in rear fronts are tucked What's the best way to get the rear to where I want it about 1-2 inches lower. |

From the looks of it, you aren't really that low in the rear so I would assume your rear hasn't been flipped to the top side of the leafs? If it hasn't, then I agree, shackles will get you 1-2 inches. If you don't like those rear springs, you can replace them with the full spring packs and then flip the rear, but it's hard to say where that will put you compared to where you are now. Either way, I think 2" extra would look perfect.

Hmmm, then at this point it's a matter of personal preference I think. You can either keep working with the beat up setup you have, or start from scratch with unmolested leafs and go from there. I'm in the same boat actually, I have heated and cut coils on my truck and want a few more inches. The smart move (to me) would be to replace the hacked parts and add the proper lowering components from there.

Looks good—— here’s my 72 with new leaf springs —- removed the overload spring and installed flip kit and c- notch. I’m planning on installing drop shackles to drop the rear.

Re: Want to drop rear about 1 inch more and better ride
You are correct 295 40 20 on the rear. I think my springs being new are keeping me alittle higher in the rear than I want to be. Thinking a 2 drop shackle will put me in the ballpark.
