When is somebody gonna use one of these rear ends???

Full floating ford 9" with truck mounting pads, extra think tubing, and I think a 5 on 5 bolt pattern, and set up for willwood brakes.

Thats a race only piece, you could use it for a street vehicle but it wouldn't make much sense. Floaters were/are used on heavier duty trucks.

What I liked about this was the fact it is a floater. if you break an axle you can call a wrecker and put it on a roll back and go home. With a 12 bolt or other rear ends, if you snap an axle your whole tire and all can come flying out at 70mph taking bed, frame, cab, whatever it wants with it. I've seen that happen to a few damn nice street rods. If I ever break the "2 ton" rear end I have now, this is whats going in it after that.

hahaha, man it just feels like 2 tons. Its a 9 1/4" Chrysler. I was told it came out of a 74 Imperial with a 440ci. By looking at the gears it sounds right. the original gears were 2.77 and they were stamped with april of 74 on it. The pan obviously hadn't been taken off in a long time, so I feel like thats really what its from. Its got a chysler car bolt pattern, 5 on 4.5, and the strangest thing of all its got 12" disc brakes. I liked it because it was big and had disc brakes on it. I've never dealt with Dana 60's or any of the really huge rear ends, but when I picked this one up, i know it had to be getting close to twice the weight of the original 12 bolt that came out of my truck.
