What's this bracket for?
Hi everyone,
What's the purpose of the top portion of this gas pedal bracket? Does something else mount to it? If not, I'd like to cut it off so I can paint the bracket. Thanks, Matt |

Thanks guys! That explains why the 4L80E has been whispering "cut it off" every time I look at that bracket.

Re: What's this bracket for?
The flat upper portion also supports the a/c hose going to the driver side vent so it doesn’t fall into the throttle cable.
That’s why if you have a/c it’s crying “LEAVE ME ALONE....” |

Randy,
Thanks for the note! I saw it this morning just before heading out to the garage. I didn't end up cutting the bracket in half. The driver's side A/C hose thanks you. Matt |

Re: What's this bracket for?
I was wondering about this bracket too. My truck is a manual so there is nothing connected to it. I left it there because it kind of acts like a shield for the accelerator, I have a choke cable and tach wire running over the top of it. Keeps miscellaneous things from possibly falling down and binding up the throttle cable or getting behind the pedal. At least that's my reasoning.
