Which fuel sending unit?
Can you use a 2 or 3 port fuel sending unit to replace a 1 port and just put rubber caps on the unused ports or is that a bad idea? Are they engine specific or just advancements in technology that they put into later models?

Re: Which fuel sending unit?

Re: Which fuel sending unit?
So does it physically not fit (larger or smaller) or just not the same.
You might need to rebuild yours. |

It looks like it has been tampered with.... ![]() As long as the fitting for the fuel line connection is the same it will work fine. Just cap off the vent and return outlets and run a vented gas cap. Make sure the replacement has the filter sock on the end of the pickup tube. I don't know what that monstrosity is on the end of yours. Be sure and check the capped off outlets once in a while to make sure the caps haven't deteriorated...... LockDoc

Re: Which fuel sending unit?
Personally, I'd hold off for the right one. Single line is available, for a 71 tank anyway. Seems they'd mount the same on 67-72 cab tanks, but can't swear to it. I got one through Classic Heartbeat.
