gear shift lever question

gear shift lever was missing so I have nothing to compare this to. this is for a 1971 automatic non tilt column.this lever is supposed to fit according to vendor. it is too big to fit into shift collar.i read it can be ground down to fit.does the end appear to be proper for my truck?

Unless you have a tilt column there should be a small ball on the end of your lever..... I don't think that lever is going to work no matter what.
