1969 1 ton rear end question

I got into a 'discussion' about 1 ton dually options -

Was the 'inside the bed'/ 'outside the bed' dually setup an option for 1969? I seem to remember that was a one-year only option.

Anybody have documentation about this? More than the 'I saw one last month' type of thing.

Dually was cab and chassis only. No box.

Option was either for axle inside the fleetside bed or outside with the flares.

StingRay is correct. There were no Dually GM pickups until 1973. There were C30 pickups but they were single rear wheel only, no option for duals. The only dual wheel trucks available for '67-'72 were the cab & chassis models.

I've never heard of or seen such a thing. I have, however, seen an 80's (4 headlight) square body that was a SRW bed with dually wheels on all 4 corners... because if you looked closer it had dual wheels tucked up under it. It supposedly had a big block fed by dual quads under the hood.

I had a Longhorn single wheel and I have a 69 dually cab and chassis. Anything 67-72 with duals and a box has been made up. The inside the box thing is a cab and chassis with an added box or a cab and chassis rear end has been added to a single wheel truck and in either case the box modified to fit the narrow duals. With a wide rear end a later rear end has been fitted and some version of dually fender added to the stock box. The favorite is a step side fender modified into a dually add on fender.

A cab and chassis dual rear wheels diff is the same width as a single rear wheel diff but has hubs with a different offset. Carefully chosen rims can be sourced with the right size center hole to bolt dual rims to a single hub. Need the right stud length then too. My 69 currently has a later 14 bolt with single hubs, long studs and the inner wheel rim has a larger center hole (Ford/Dodge I guess) and the outer is GM with the same hole size as the stock fronts. 73-87 dually front and rear suspension and diffs all swaps to 67-72. That's pretty much your choices when it comes to duallies.

Ok, maybe my old man brain isn't remember correctly. I have a friend that has a 69 like this that his dad bought new. But maybe his mind is old like mine. Maybe I'll look at it some more.
