Sideboards!
Spent a few hours building these last Sunday- about $40 worth of lumber and fasteners from Home Depot. They're pretty solid for tying stuff to.

Looks good. What size lumber did you use for the uprights in the stake pockets?

2x3's for the stakes. Still had to trim about 3/8 off them for the pocket area. The boards are rough cut pine fencing material. Used exterior grade drywall screws to assemble the whole thing.

I like 'em! I remember going to car shows with my dad back in the '80s where side boards were the thing on all stepsides. I've always been a fan... My older brother had a '57 that they made a set in wood shop at the high school for it.

That's what I was wondering about. They look great on your truck and I have been wanting to make a set for mine which is a long fleetside.
