Re: 84 c10 stepside
Haha it's funny we drove around all weekend in my gf's Saab convertible with no sticker on it. Saw one cop didn't get lit up. A little out of the 10 day grace period, but it was so nice we took the risk!

Re: 84 c10 stepside
Got the shifter thru classic industries. I called before I ordered it to make sure that it would be the right one. You can read the description in the last pic I posted says models available to fit 700r4 and they sent me one for the th350 so I called the tech line to find out wtf .and they said hurst dosent offer an overdrive (4speed) automatic ratchet shifter like for a 700r4 even though it says it in the description (drat)

Re: 84 c10 stepside
Glad to see you're back on the attack. I didn't know they still made those Quicksilver shifters. I remember seeing the neighbor install one in his 78 Trans Am back before I could drive. Looks like you've gotten a real nice shine out of the paint. Truck looks great.

Re: 84 c10 stepside
Thank you sir,I do what I can when, I'm not working too much.i love the truck .it's a work in progress .not easy to get the clear just right.you gotta wet sand/flow it out a few times to get rid of the orange peel and you gotta have a way of evacuating the overspray or the clear will cloud the space up and end up falling back on the panels creating more work. I did the same thing with the shifter I did back in the day , when I had my camaro . I replaced the worn b&m mega shifter that had play in it with the quick silver good action now.probably get it out there today for a bit.people love these trucks.i get the thumbs up
,and asked questions everywhere I go.you could sign on the line for a 50k truck and not get that .plus you pull up to the light and see one just like yours across from you on the other side . |

Re: 84 c10 stepside
Jeff,
Sounds like your truck is lots of fun, you are right in that you rarely see another one when out driving. Kind of wish mine had an automatic, as it is easier in the city, and we have lots of hills here. The 50 plus degrees of overlap in the cam sharpen your brake /clutch skills on a hill. The LY6 transmission is very nice on the interstates. Les |

Re: 84 c10 stepside
The new shifter sounds like it is working out great. Any changes planned for the LS motor?
Hoping for some nice weather with out salt and calcium chloride on the roads. Calcium chloride is just bad, bad, bad, very hard to wash off, eats up everything. Want to get the truck out and do some driving. Out grandson, living with us going to school here, loves driving it too. Your latest photo, looks really nice, rear image of truck is outstanding. Signed up for a road course day of fun in late April at the motor sports park in Bowling Green KY. The course is about 3.6 miles in length. It is a touring type day, however, top speed of a little over120 mph on front straight away. Take it pretty easy on the brakes, let off early, so as not to get them to hot. Did the same event last year, lots of fun, it is a technical course most of the time. Going into the turns, usually can not see the exit, so need to drive on memory of turn. There is a big sink hole curve on the course, you can not see going into it. All you can see is the track dropping out of sight. Very strange feeling going down into it. However, a blast coming up out of it in a curve, hammer down. One of the few place you can go WOT going into and through the turn. Drive something a little faster then the red truck.
