Re: 1972 C-10 - Project NVR-ENUF

Good Morning
Awesome build, frame will be easy on the eye when you get it back from powdercoat. Curios as to why you went with the No Limit rear trailing arm as opposed to PB etc ? I'm seriously considering purchasing his set up and we all know Rob knows how to make one handle for sure and it looks like a great product.
Thanks
Kirk

Kirk, thank you for the comments! I went with the No Limit rear setup due to shock placement, longer stroke shocks, and just looked like a very nice setup. I purchased the PB inner stiffener AFTER I bought Robs kit, so I made his kit work with the PB mounts. I'm having stainless spacers/shims/sleeves made to locate his trailing arm bushings in the wider PB/stock type width mount.

Im anxiously awaiting getting behind the wheel of this thing

Re: 1972 C-10 - Project NVR-ENUF

Time for some more updates...

Frame is back from powder coat now, and assembly has started. I just recently picked up NY new Strange Center section too. I went with the Strange HD Pro aluminum Center, with a 3.70 gear, 35 spline axles with an HD 35 spline posi, Billet front bearing support and Billet yoke.

Onto the pictures...

A few more of the custom spacers we made to use the new No Limit Trailing Arm setup with a Porterbuilt Inner stiffener.

Well since some of the pictures are not showing up anymore due to webshots removing linking to forums, here are some chassis pictures again.

Re: 1972 C-10 - Project NVR-ENUF

From the time the truck came back from paint in March of last year, it sat all year during racing season with a car cover on it. I had been needing to get the truck back to the body shop to fix lots of paint issues......but I needed to make it steer.

After multiple orders of lots of different steering joints, couplers, adapters, etc.....we finally got a steering shaft mocked up with 3/4" wooden dowel that I turned into a DD shaft on my band saw. Once we got it mocked up, then we spent an entire day trying to accurately place the heim joint for the middle support. That was a feat in itself....but we got it, and it works great.

I also used a new Ididit steering column for C10's with a power rack. The section that sticks through the firewall is 5" shorter, which makes it somewhat easier to get connected to the rack.

Also, you see the rust on my brand new headers that were coated by Hooker Headers....junk. So those will be recoated as well.

Heres some pictures of the process....

Re: 1972 C-10 - Project NVR-ENUF

While the truck was back at the bodyshop for a second time, we brought the chassis back to complete another big driveline issue has now been taken care of as well....custom, high hp 2 piece shaft from Inland Empire. Its their 502 kit, with 1350 U-Joints and upgraded larger diameter center carrier bearing and shaft.
