Re: home-grown light upgrade

Just make sure not to buy the "clear upgrade" ones on eBay. The ones I've bought in the past for a different truck were made in china and made very poorly. The little rubber seal actually ripped when i first tried to put a bulb in and then about 6 months later the glass cracked diagonally. The ones I got from LMC were about 35.00 a piece but man they look and feel much more solid and professional than that cheap crap some are selling on eBay.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, so don't shoot the messenger. I recently ran across some worthwhile info that you guys might find interesting. It's from a very reputable source, these guys deal with automotive lighting & upgrades every day.

Quote:
The H13 is quite possibly the stupidest design for a bulb ever foisted on the public. The terminals are so small that they overheat, even at stock wattages, and melt the plastic housing of the connectors. Higher than stock wattage bulbs are offered, but not recommended and we accept no responsibility for their use.

It's worth noting that one advantage of the tried & true H4 bulb is its large terminal contact areas, which experience no overheating or voltage drop even in higher wattage applications.
