There all over the place but a good rebuilt one could be 1,100-1,300.If they need rebuilt can get expensive if it needs gears. Also the 26 fine spline onse are more desirable.

Re: Looking for a 1968 and up Muncie M22

I do not know what it is exactly, but a friend has a Muncie in his garage. I saw it, but I know nothing about them. You may have to help me identify it.
I will try to take pictures of it and post it here.

Check your PM's.

Will try to get there tomorrow. It is in the rafters above his garage. Will be a challenge but I'll get up there somehow.

Re: Looking for a 1968 and up Muncie M22

The price can depend on what vehicle the numbers go to. The one for my '67 is correct for a '65 GTO, so could bring bigger money to someone who has to have it for their high dollar car

Pretty sure Pontiac didn't offer an M22 in a 1965 GTO not even as an option. M20 or M21.

All M22 had straight cut gears. Used only on GM Hi Performance cars

Re: Looking for a 1968 and up Muncie M22

You can buy a brand new super case M22 for $2400. Unless you are really fortunate, a 50 year old 4 speed is more than likely going to need some work. You can also find some that have been professionally rebuilt, but they aren't cheap either.

They also offer rebuilt units but you have to have a core or there is a $500 core charge

$2400.00? That to the uneducated Muncie person like myself seems pretty steep. I guess if that is what you must have then it is it.

Friend was out shopping for hand cannons this morning so I was unable to get over there. Will try for Monday morning.

Re: Looking for a 1968 and up Muncie M22

There's a guy that my Dad has bought several rebuilt M20s and M21s from. Came across him at swap meets. I believe he's in Pensacola. At the swap meet last week he had a couple M-22s. His name is Matthew 954-985-0264.

What bell housing are you planning on using ? The out put hole of the bell housing must match the trans , The '67 stock bell housings work the later bell housings have a larger output hole which results with the car muncie's relying only on the 4 bolts and can crack the muncie mounts .

Re: Looking for a 1968 and up Muncie M22

Still have not climbed up in the garage rafters however, I was told it came out of a 66 GTO 389 Tri-Power. If that helps at all.

Obviously the casting numbers will tell the truth 100% when I get them.

A 66 GTO came with either the M20 or M21.
