C60 brake and suspension upgrades help
I’m am beginning a build of a 61 C60. Unfortunately I do not have the original chassis. I have found a 64 bus chassis to use and was looking for ideas on upgrades. Are there any disc brakes out there that will fit the front axle? What kind of parts do I need to be hunting down? This is my first big truck build and any input would be appreciated.

Re: C60 brake and suspension upgrades help
You may get more help if this gets moved to the heavy haulers section.

Re: C60 brake and suspension upgrades help
Find the closest LKQ big truck salvage yard & go tell them what you want to do.
1st off does your school bus chassis have Dayton or Budd wheel hubs? You gotta get rid of Daytons if you want disc brakes. Get a whole front axle that has mounting pads as close to yours as possible, wider OK narrower not OK. If it's wider un-rivet your spring hangers & space them out to match your new axle. This will also allow you to use later model split brake system w/ hyd booster. If both axles Daytons just buy whole roller chassis from LKQ. Next install 1100 x 24.5 polished aluminum rims & tall G65 Goodyears! |

I think you would be better off to get a complete newer medium duty rolling chassis with discs in the front already and mount your body to that chassis. I believe they went to front discs sometime in the mid '90's.

Capt's right if your chassis has that funky oversize six bolt wheel stud pattern you will be stuck with the funky wheel sized tires that fit those rims
