my new 1970 C/10

So, I'm back on the forums after being without a truck for about a year and a half. I missed my old 1970 step so I found a new 70 step. I just started looking, and after not seeing anything local I liked, I went on eBay of all places. I think I got it for a reasonable price.

Plans are to replace the rockers and cab corners. I bought some new sill plates and a correct blue steering wheel and center cap from Classic Industries. I'll put a new wood bed kit as well. I'm going to clean up the interior some. It doesn't have too far to go, I don't think.

I'm going to try to preserve the exterior all-original paint. Any tips on this? Buff out the paint? Or should I clear coat over it? If so, use a satin finish or gloss? Not sure where to go on this end.

Anyway, I'm pretty psyched on the color scheme. Black wasn't so common back then, I don't think. Especially with the blue interior.

And the SPID is just loaded. Haha. Here's some pics.

Thanks all.

Well as per SPID, there's no engine designated. So, that leads me to believe it's the standard/base engine, which according to the 1970 brochure states is the mighty 250. In an event, it's a 6 cyl. Between the 290 or 250, I don't think it really matters. It's a 3 on the tree, too.

Been watching a few rocker panel replacement videos. It definitely involves removing a few more things off the truck than I would have liked, but oh well.

Re: my new 1970 C/10

Here's a couple more pics. I believe it's an original North Carolina car. It apparently has the protecto plate, so I'm not sure who has that ability around here but may be cool to get a bit of info off of it.

While the "hand shredder" steering wheel is cool for originality purposes, I've decided to replace it and ordered a new repop one from GMC Pauls today.

Kinda looks like I may need a new driver's side window in my future.

Are you going to keep the straight 6 and 3 on the tree?

Re: my new 1970 C/10

That's funny. I was watching this one on eBay too. Really to price my 69 Stepside that I'm getting running. Between the the 76 and 53, id hate to get rid of mine but I do like follow prices. Glad you got it. Such a small world.

Re: my new 1970 C/10

Was looking through some of my old posts and ran across the sale of the green interior I was going to put into my white 70 step. It too originally had a blue interior. Boy do I love these seat covers. Got me thinking for a minute, seeing as I have to buy a new steering wheel anyway (and it looks like arm rests and door panels), but I think I'll probably just keep it blue.

That blue interior is so sick. Thats my favorite. I even considered doing a Blue interior on my gold truck cause I like it so much.

Nice truck, looks similar to mine when I bought it. Mine came out of Rockingham.
