My truck sits too high
When I restored my truck, i replaced the rear springs because they had sagged and the center coils were sitting on each other. It now sits too high, like an original truck with the original type overload springs that I installed. Does anyone make lowering springs, or can I install air bags in the original spring perches? Or should I get the torch out and "lower" the springs?

Re: My truck sits too high
Here is Summits listing on some of what you can get. About a 3" spring would get you sitting level.

What springs did you put in it?

Re: My truck sits too high
Stock GM that were like the original overload ones. They had wide coils at the top and bottom and narrow coils in the middle.

Re: My truck sits too high
Don't use a torch, use a cut off wheel. You could cut one coil off and see where it puts you. Free to try out.

Re: My truck sits too high
Negative. I wouldn't cut the rear springs. You lose the pigtail when you do that and then have no way to retain the spring. Now the fronts on the other hand, you can always hack a coil off of those!

Re: My truck sits too high
I was more interested in who made the springs and maybe a part number. Some of the aftermarket springs they list as heavy duty are for use in a suburban. They have a higher spring rate and will sit really tall in a truck. This may be the issue you have. You may want to try just a set of standard truck springs and see how that works.

Re: My truck sits too high
that's a really nice truck you got there....and I always like those old dealership bumpers....
it does look like it needs to come down a couple inches.....
