Differences in a 68 and 72 cab
I need a cab for my 68 and I found a 72 cab for sale on the classifieds here. Before I commit to it I just wanted to see if there were any changes made that would make swapping cabs a real headache.

Re: Differences in a 68 and 72 cab
I believe just where the rearview mirror goes will be the only difference.

Yes rearview mirror, but also ebrake mounting and driver-side cab vent at rear door opening, which affected placement of the vin plate. Think the gas pedal setup might be a little different too.

Re: Differences in a 68 and 72 cab
Also cab fuse block mounting and wiper switch is above the light switch on a 68 and on the right side top on dash on a 69-72

The fuse block is just moved over a bit yeah? Same size though?

Re: Differences in a 68 and 72 cab
You also have cable instead of rod for accelerator.

Re: Differences in a 68 and 72 cab
I'm doing a 68 to 71 cab swap myself. Here's what I've found so far.
Mirror mounting (72 on glass), e-brake, fuse box, gas pedal, VIN plate, cab pillar vents, filler neck grommet, and the label for the ignition switch. I think that's all.

Are you converting your e-brake to the foot pedal type or finding a way to make the hand lever work? And is the fuse box just in a different spot or is it more complicated than that?

Re: Differences in a 68 and 72 cab
I'm going to use my 68 dash in the 71 cab. I will use the 68 style e-brake. The cable goes out under the column, the flat spot is there on the 71 cab, it's just not drilled.
It looks like the harness is the same where it goes thru the firewall. I think the fuse box just sits in a slightly different spot, rotated 90deg. I haven't looked that close yet.

Re: Differences in a 68 and 72 cab
Thw window crank and door release pivots are longer and the door panels are plastic not metal.

Re: Differences in a 68 and 72 cab
Somebody correct me if I am wrong. If you have stainless trim around the windshield and back glass, it is different . Either its not as deep or you have to buy different rubber. They are not an exact fit, I don't think.
