68 C-10 rear end identification and code

I have most of my identification code exposed through all of the grease and road grime, what does this code mean F38(either a 9 or a 0) 6838?

Thank you for any help

Where was this number located? The code number for '68 should be two letters in a series of letters and numbers on the axle tube or the rear housing web. Here is a link to the charts I posted a few years ago.

And a couple of pictures of code locations on the axles. Third picture with the code on the side of the third member was posted by member "swamp rat".

That is the casting number not the code #. The code # would be stamped into the metal like the pictures I posted.
