Iboard Running Boards on 2015 Z71

My 2015 Z71 sits higher than my old 2000 Z71 and it's a little harder to get into than my old truck, so I decided to old man it up

It's hard to get/find affordable parts for new trucks. Most of the products I was looking at were $4-500+! That's just too damn $. I was also having a hard time finding a set I thought was good looking until I ran across the Iboards. They're aluminum and were only $160 for my double cab. I'm 180 lbs and they feel pretty sturdy.

I also added a set of GM splash guards, I think they compliment each other nicely.

Re: Iboard Running Boards on 2015 Z71

The Good:

They feel sturdy.
They're aluminum (no rust.)
Compared to other products, very cheap.
Look really cool.

The bad:

The "powder coating" on the brackets was kinda crappy.
The welds on the brackets look like I did them (not a good thing) but they do look like they're fully welded... just a little ugly.
The hardware is "bulky" looking and a shiny silver (you can see the bolts under the boards if you get down a bit).

I plan to fix all of the issues above by pulling them back off in the spring and re-painting all of the brackets and hardware a flat black.

Re: Iboard Running Boards on 2015 Z71

I also added an old man grab handle. What's kind of stupid is that 3 of the 4 doors all come with factory grab handles. Apparently this wasn't even an option in 2014, but was optional on 2015's, so I ordered one (they fit 2014's too). I already love it. No more grabbing on the steering wheel. It's a mirror replica of the PS, so it fits in with the rest of the interior.

Re: Iboard Running Boards on 2015 Z71

I was curious how are your iboards holding up? I have a 96 that I was thinking about putting a set on. Like you have stated they are very fairly priced compared to the other step/need bars out there.

Thanks,
Ray

Re: Iboard Running Boards on 2015 Z71

They've been on the truck a couple years now and look as good as when I installed them.

I really like them. They've held up well. Rubber still looks nice. AL still looks good. I am a bit OCD about my truck, so they're not exactly abused either.

Re: Iboard Running Boards on 2015 Z71

LOVE IT Rob!!!

I jumped on my 2015 in July 2015 because I didn't like the 16 nose refresh at first, but it's really grown on me now. I really like the one piece bumpers on the front (mine has a "shorter" bumper with the painted cap on top, 16+ goes all the way to the grill/lights).
