Let's see your fire extinguisher mounts!

Hey all,

I found a couple of old threads specific to 67-72 models regarding fire extinguisher mounts but my limited search abilities turned up nothing for 73-87. I'm looking for some inspiration as to how to mount an extinguisher in my cab - getting sick of it sitting on the bench. I know its important to be properly secured to mitigate the risk of it becoming a missile inside the cab during an accident.

Cheers and thanks in advance

I've never seen someone mount a fire extinguisher inside a truck before. Should be interesting.

I have one behind the seat, but it's not mounted.

Re: Let's see your fire extinguisher mounts!

The M1008, M1028, M1030, & M1031 CUCV supposedly has em mounted on the trans tunnel. Mine had holes in the trans tunnel that I welded up. I can only find pictures of em with civilian red fire extinguishers.

Not sure where the DOD put the M1009 Blazer extinguisher. I've seen pictures of civvy units mounted on the B-pillar behind the RH seat... That may be Bubba getting them off the cab floor in his new surplus diesel camo blazer.

Olive drab mount Civvy extinguisher... Not even sure if this is an original mount but that's roughly where the holes were in my M1008 cab.

Re: Let's see your fire extinguisher mounts!

I mounted mine behind the driver side of the bench. I have a folding back so I hope I can get to it quick enough if ever necessary.

Re: Let's see your fire extinguisher mounts!

Working on my 16 yr old son's C10 we are in the same boat trying to figure out the best mount location. I figure if he encounters a fire while solo then I want him to just 'get out' first which is why I plan to mount the extinguisher in the bed so he can access it from away from the fire if in the cab.

I know this is a tank for a bagged system but you get the idea.

Re: Let's see your fire extinguisher mounts!

On my K5 Blazer I looked everywhere for a suitable location-They all looked out of place so I just stuck it in the console out of sight but within reach when needed which hopefully will be never....
