396 vs 454 hp/torque
does anybody know how these two motors compare in stock trim?

I guess it would depend on year and what the engine originaly came in. Vettes for example had higher HP rated engines than Chevelles or Camaros but some believe it is just a rating and the engines were built basically the same. There were some differences though, such as solid or hydraulic lifters. My 396 (L34) came out of a 66 Chevelle SS in which they made 3 different HP ratings. 325 HP, 360 HP and 375 HP. Mine is the 360 horse version. I have no idea what the torque specs are. I'll have to dig and see if I can find that info.
