setting the doors
I finally got the cab and doors back from the autobody shop and I was wondering if any body knew of any tricks of hanging them. they are on now but don't fit worth a damn. anything would be great.
I was also wondering what is the procedure for installing the door components. Locks Before glass? glass before locks??? I will post pics asap.

I would be interested in some tips also. I have mine hung (after walking away and coming back several times)but they need to be aligned. I'm not sure where to start. Would like to know if there is a trick to aligning the doors and also the front clip.

Aligning body panels is hard to describe with just text, and over a computer.
But I will try. I usually remove the door stricker/latch. I then adjust the hinges so that the door when closed has an even gap, top bottom, back, etc. This can be adjusted with the bolts that attach hinge to cowl. Trial and error here. Then adjust top/bottom in and out.. For example top of window may stick out, when rocker of door is flush. Adjust this with the bolts that attach hinge to door. You then may have to go back to gap thing, and back and forth... After you get door they way you like, and yes 2 x 4's and bending is acceptable method. Then install the latch, thing to look for is when door closes it doesn't jump up or down when it activates latch. If it does latch needs adjusted up and down. In and out will adjust flush with rear of cab. Trial and error mostly. Be sure door has hardware installed, as the weight can make difference. ------------------ Jeff Scott '70 GMC Stepside, Short box '67 Camaro '63 Nova '92 GMC typhoon

the way me and my freind did it was i held the door in place, left the back latch on and closed the latch, then hekd it the best i could while he bolted. they still work perfect ever after setting cab on frame (did that with cab on blocks)

I agree with ty1295, but also make sure you do this with the door seals installed. I spent a lot of time getting mine just right and then installed the seals and the door wouldn't close - duh!
