I need help

I posted this on the 88-98 Message Board but thought I could find some help here to.

My dads truck is a 94 with a V6 it has 220,000 miles. He told me that when he goes up a hill the truck has no power and he has to downshift just to get up to speed. Any ideals on what the problem could be. Maybe a tuneup and a gas filter change? Thanks for any help.

how long has it been since he has changed the plugs, plug wires, fuel filter, air filter? could be a number of things, but these are some of the more common reasons for lack of power

Probably has low compression due to wear on the rings and probably some valve wear by now. The convertor probably has been plugging up for the last 100K miles to. Has this problem been happening slowly or did it happen all at once?

He told me it just happened today. He also said when he got home and looked under the hood that the distributer cap worked itself loose he put it back on but it did not help.

FUEL FILTER, went though this on my 90' 4.3 5sp got to where it had no guts, hard to pass, changed all kinds of parts, wound up replacing the fuel filter (under drivers door) in the frameand it was like a brand new truck.
