Specialty Power Windows ....
Hey Gang,
Just picked up a set of Specialty Power Windows for 67-72 trucks. Anyone have any experience with this kit? If so, what is your opinion ... good? ... bad? Any helpful installation/fitting/operation hints would be appreciated. |

whos got a photos of the setup? I going with power window but just want them so when I lock my blazer with the alarm the windows go up and when I unlock I want them to go down. It real easy to do I just think it be better since i won't ever have a top. Plus with the windows up it'll be a little harder for poeple to stick there hand in and try to nab something.

Hey Barry,
Unfortunately, the kit hasn't been installed yet. I have got to get busy and start working on this truck again ... my spare bed-room is almost at capacity with all the parts i have bought and not yet used! Sounds like Tim has had good luck with this kit ... not sure if you know Tim, but if he says it is a good kit, then I take his word for it. |

Shane and Tim, how about some details, pics, etc. Most of us would probably prefer power windows, but installation info and price are both major factors, as you both know. I'm sure we would all appreciate any info.

Do you guys know if you have to use NEW regulators for power windows?. My windows should be a tad easier to roll up and down than they are and I was curious if having stiff regulators would burn up the motor.

The A-1 kit is the one I have, and it is faster than some new cars.

I have the A-1 in mine and am very happy. Easy bolt in and just a little trimming for the switches on the drivers side.

I used Specialty in the Studebaker, and they worked great.

Ervin Castleberry
Ervin Castleberry is the guy that started that company back in the '80's about 30 miles from my home. i bought my first car (57 chevy) from him back in '84 and while i was picking it up, he showed me what he was working on. i was very intrigued by his setup. he's just an old country boy/body man that made good. he's pretty smart guy. with his system, you don't need any of the stock window guts. pretty cool stuff. a lot of companies have copied his setup, but his was the first of its kind. his kits are pricey, but the quality is there.

I have the A1 electric windows in my 72 Jimmy. I mounted the switches on the center console where the ashtray was. I used the after-market plugs to cover the window crank holes. The installation was easy, bolt in, just like changing a regulator. They go up and down fast. I put them in because I drive without the top a lot, and if I get cold on the freeway I can close the passenger window without losing site of the road.

Hello and good day.. Does anyone know why the Brand Quality Power Windos are more expensive. I don't know for sure, but some one mentioned they actually provide GM switches and Delco motors. Anyone know. I can call tomorrow, but just wondered if anyone knew the dif. and has a recomendation. With switches the Quality versus A1 is about 90 bucks more.. any help appreciated.
by the way, I have a 383 with 65k, with a cracked block for sale. Probably great motor for racing after changing out the cam. Also have 70 chev 4 speed granny tranny for sale. Thanks for your time..
