50 th Anniversary Trucks
Did GMC make a 50 th anniversary edition in 1968 or was it just a Chevrolet only item. My 68 GMC is dark brown now, but the fire wall is still a very nice gold colour. Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, GMC's were made prior to 1918. 1906 maybe? I dunno.

Check your glovebox option sheet for the color code: The color was probably originally a color code of: Saddle Metallic 525 (1968) Here is a link to site with some of the original codes: http://www.paintscratch.com

What is the paint code on a 50th anniversary truck? I know where there is a gold and white 68 LB sitting, how else can I tell if it is one?

I think it is 551 gold/white and the int color is 627...again, i think that's the code.
The quickest way to tell is to look at the seat...if it is gold and white, it's a 50th...or at least the seat is a 50th. |

I am a GMC owner and fan, but I don't understand why GMC did not have a 50th anniversary truck (1903-1953).
Even worse, GMC did not make a big deal out of their 100th anniversary in 2003. I can't figure out those Marketing guys! |

Also the 50th's are two toned paint, the the section below the trim is white. All other's in '68 that are two toned are just white on the roof, not below the trim. From what I understand.

And you could get the two tone with the white on the bottom without the 50th annv deal.

I thought I hada pic of one...just spent 30 min looking through all my pics...no dice. Maybe you are right and I'm confused...wouldn't be the first time.
Anyone able to confirm/deny this? |

sorry 'bout that , 68 Suburban, I inadvertantly excluded the other fine products that Chevrolet offered, only thinking of the lowly pick-up. I shall never again slight such an honorable and ....huh...
Aw the h*ll with that, I plain forgot! Steve
