Well Bill....guess I've been in the big city TOO long!! And believe it or not, I love mushrooms too, just never seen any like that. But you gotta admit, well, except for the "stems", they do look like coral.....sort of

We have a annual Mushroom Festival in Mansfield, Indiana every year where thousands attend a the morels generally sell for $15-$20 a pound but this last weekend at the festival they were bringing $90.00+ a pound due to a shortage caused by lack of rain when ground temps were correct for them to come up.
There were some giantyellow morels sold that weighed over 5lbs ea.

We have them here in southeast pa.Look where the may apples and skunk cabbage grows!We find them in those areas,means there is enough moisture in the ground for the mushrooms.There is a place in Reading called Joe's.He is known for his morelmushroom and exotic game meat.People from NYC and Philly come and pay over a $100 per person for the main course.The locals eat across the street at stanleys,4 people can eat and drink beer all night for that price!

The country radio station here has a "biggest morel" contest, where you bring it in to the station and they measure it and if yours is the biggest, you get a plane trip to somewhere or something. I go hunting every spring for those, and in the fall every year for puffballs. mmm mmm mmm. Fry those suckers up with butter and some grease, then serve them either plain or with sausage gravy. man, that's GOOD stuff.

Those shrooms look new to me. Since I didn't grow up around them, they actually look scary to me.

i have a 78 f*rd beat to heck 3/4 ton truck i use to haul crap in. i havent drivin it for months. i drug it out this past weekend and there were mushrooms growing in the carpet. now im kicking my self for knocking em out of the truck. i coulda sold them on ebay or something for big bucks

Up here in CT you don't mess with wild mushrooms unless you really know what your doing or you're liable to end up on your ass. I generally don't touch wild plants unless I have one of my friends with me who has an insane knowledge as to what you can eat in the woods.

And holy crap GMCPaul that is quite a list of trucks you have there. The biggest that I've seen yet by far. I don't believe that my wife would let me have more than two.

Yes i do know what those are! I worked in a small eng shop several yrs ago. The bosses mom(damn good cook, she raised 8 kids & none starved!) ....well mid after noon , she would bring a BIG batch of fresh pan fried morels(special egg batter, & seasoning). Man we "pigged out"! I have had those shrooms done many ways........but that old gal could really cook em crazyL

Technically, biologists will tell you those are not mushrooms--they are Morels--a subspecies?
